We race the 3300 hard which inevitably leads to maintenance issues that we have to stay on top of. Particular attention should be paid to the condition of the runner leads as these can be damaged by the clutch. We keep our runner lead on the primary winch at all times.

We have suffered a mast failure. This was caused by the load created on the runner cleat 2:1 ratio which caused the outer core(new rope as well) to strip and the runner ran causing the mast to break. I am aware that chilli pepper in the uk(also a 3300) suffered exactly the same failure and mast loss. I would recommend that Jenneau does a roll out of a fix changing the ratio to 3:1 which will reduce the load on the runner tail which will prevent this sort of failure. I am sure more masts will be lost in th3 coming months which is not good PR.

The Sun Fast 3300 ticks all the boxes for our yacht racing team. It is a competitive race boat that is economical to campaign yet capable of winning races and events. We race fully crewed and double-handed and the yacht offers great flexibility for inshore and offshore races. An awesome yacht that will suit a huge range of sailors.

In general, the design and performance of the boat is pleasing, especially the cockpit for double hand use is very well designed. It meets the expectations. Among the hardware options, water ballast, carbon mast and boom should be evaluated well. Likewise, sail selections and dimensions are factors that directly affect performance.

The design of a designated short handed racing boat for a bolt rope mainsail luff is problematic and as a result I had to spend considerable time and money to come up with a solution .
This involved mainsail luff alteration by removing the bolt rope and fitting slides and then also a carbon cover over the mast track opening ( at the goose neck) in the very expensive Axon carbon mast.
I often sail my boat 2UP single handed and the requirement to minimise leaving the safety of the cockpit and provide the ability to get the main up and down quickly and reef easily and in safety is paramount.
Accordingly lazy jacks and a mainsail luff pulldown line have also been fitted in addition to the alterations made above.
Overall the boat is beautifully balanced and a delight to sail.

I love the design, rationale and performance of the boat, however the build quality lets the overall experience down. I've had issues with multiple leaks, seals on the topsides, keel and keel studs and yellowing of the GRP.
